Settings → Network & Internet → WiFi → Manage known networks → your network → Forget. Then click the WiFi icon and join fresh with your password. This clears a corrupted saved profile and fixes about half of these cases.
Search Start for 'cmd', right-click → Run as administrator, then type (enter after each):
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
This forces Windows to ask for a fresh address — fixes 'connected but no internet' on laptops especially.
In Device Manager → Network adapters → your WiFi adapter → Update driver. A recent Windows update quietly breaking WiFi drivers is a classic — the maker's support site usually has the fix if Windows' own search fails.
Airplane mode (the little plane icon in the taskbar), the physical WiFi switch or Fn-key combo on older laptops, and the WiFi toggle in Quick Settings. Every technician has a story about one of these.
Company laptops often refuse unknown networks by policy — that's your IT department's rule, not a fault, and no home fix exists. Say so politely and save yourself an hour.
