Rule yourself out first

Try a proper modem restart first. If the light goes solid green and everything works — you fixed it, no outage at all. Half of suspected outages are one unhappy box, so rule this out before anything else.

The neighbour test

Text a neighbour on the same provider. If their internet is down too, it's an area outage and no technician can fix it — not even us. If theirs works, the problem is inside your home — and that's fixable today.

1 minute

The official outage page

Your provider posts known outages on their website (log into your TELUS account — it flags outages in your area automatically). If it's listed, you have your answer and your expected fix time.

4
1 minute

The crowdsourced check

DownDetector and similar sites track real-time user reports. A big spike on the graph means a genuine, wide outage — and confirms you're not imagining it.

Now decide

Area outage? Save your provider's support link, report it if you want, and wait — nothing else works. Only your house affected? That's our entire business: book a same-day visit and it's usually fixed within the hour.

Storm-season tip (Calgary especially): outages spike during Chinook wind events and summer hail storms. If the lights flickered last night, a proper restart fixes most storm-related dropouts.

Still stuck? We fix it in your home — same day.

Quick answers

How do I know if it's an outage or just my house?
The neighbour test is fastest — ask anyone nearby on the same provider. Their outage = everyone's; their working internet = the problem is in your home.
Should I call my provider during an outage?
Only to report it if the outage page doesn't already list your area. Hold times balloon during wide outages, and they can't speed up the fix.
Can a local technician fix an area outage?
No — an area outage is fixed by the provider's network crews. Anyone who says otherwise is selling you something.
